About The Show

Half A Sixpence’ is the delightful British musical comedy packed with exuberant choreography. A myriad of mirth, colourful costumes and show-stopping numbers. Iincluding, ‘Flash, Bang, Wallop!’, ‘Money to Burn’ and of course ‘Half A Sixpence’.

Arthur Kipps, an orphan and over-worked draper’s assistant at the turn of the last century. He is a charming but ordinary young man who, along with his fellow apprentices, dreams of a better and more fulfilling world. When Kipps unexpectedly inherits a fortune that propels him into high society. It confuses everything he thought he knew about life. His childhood companion, Ann Pornick, watches with dismay as Arthur is made over in a new image by the beautiful and classy Helen Walsingham.

Helen is always there with helpful hints on how Arthur could improve himself and make his life richer and more meaningful. If only he would believe in himself, and listen to her. Undoubtedly both young women love Arthur – but which of them should he listen to? With the help of his friends, Arthur learns that if you want to have the chance of living the right life. You need to make the right choices.

Dirty Dancing Hits The West End

Dirty Dancing 2022

Storm are delighted to be providing a comprehensive LightingRigging package for the West End run of Dirty Danicng. Playing at London’s Dominion Theatre. The West End lighting system contains a mixture of ROBE, SGM & ETC Moving Lights & LED fixtures. The show enjoyed a sellout run in London with audiences dancing in their seats every night.

Dirty Dancing goes back to the summer of 1963. 17 year-old Frances ‘Baby’ Houseman is about to learn some major lessons in life. As well as a thing or two about dancing. On holiday in New York’s Catskill Mountains with her older sister and parents. She shows little interest in the resort activities. Instead discovers her own entertainment when she stumbles across an all-night dance party at the staff quarters.

Mesmerised by the raunchy dance moves and the pounding rhythms, Baby can’t wait to be part of the scene. Especially when she catches sight of Johnny Castle the resort dance instructor. Baby’s life is about to change forever as she is thrown in at the deep end. Not only as Johnny’s leading lady both on-stage and off. Two fiercely independent young spirits from different worlds come together in what will be the most challenging and triumphant summer of their lives.

The Japan Festival at Kew

Japan After Hours - One Thousand Springs

In October, we were delighted to work with the events team at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Supplying Lighting & Rigging to The Japan Festival. A celebration of the country’s breath-taking plants, art and culture. All within Kew’s Temperate House. At the heart of the festival is a large-scale artistic installation by Japanese artist Chiharu Shiota. Titled One Thousand Springs.

Renowned for her vast, room-spanning webs of thread installations. Through which she explores human existence. Shiota’s One Thousand Springs will be suspended from the roof of the Temperate House. Constructed of 5,000 haikus, submitted by members of the public and suspended within a sea of red threads. This breathtaking installation will tell stories of our shared connections with nature and form a magnificent centrepiece to the festival.

As part of the month long installation. A series of evening ‘Japan: After Hours’ events held within the Temperate House offered visitors an opportunity to experience the best of Japan. Each evening, Kew’s Temperate House transformed into an illuminated, Japan themed space. During the After Hours events visitors enjoyed a varied programme. From dance, theatre, and live music performances to traditional flower arranging and sake sipping.

Just a quick message to say thank you to you and all the team for doing such a fantastic job on the lighting for the Japan Festival. You did an incredible job when handed a lot of challenges! The design worked extremely well. Completely transforming the After Hours events. The crew were all super as well. So respectful and a pleasure to work with. I look forward to working with you all again.

WellChild Awards 2021

WellChild Awards 2021

Storm were delighted to work with the WellChild National Children’s Charity to deliver the WellChild Awards 2021. Providing full production services to this years Awards. Including; Lighitng, Sound, Step & Repeat Backdrop & a Stretch Tent at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

The WellChild Awards, in association with GSK, celebrates the inspirational qualities of the UK’s seriously ill children and young people. Along with those who go that extra mile to make a difference to their lives. Particuarly, the challenges many have faced through COVID-19 have made hearing and recognising their stories more important than ever.

The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry surprised the attendees as the Patron of the WellChild charity. Along with special guests including; Ed Sheeran, Anne-Marie, Ronnie Wood, Strictly Come Dancing star AJ Pritchard & Amanda Holden. During the event, there was a special acoustic performance by Anne-Marie.

Un-surprisingly, the huge disruption from Coronavirus in 2020 resulted in the postponement of the Awards for the year. WellChild, with the support of their sponsors and the general public were able to bring the Awards back for 2021. Many of the vulnerable children, young people and their families supported by WellChild have struggled immensely during COVID-19. The 2021 WellChild Awards helped to shine a light on the challenges they have faced. Whilst bringing some much needed hope and positivity to their lives at this difficult and uncertain time.

Just a quick note to say thank you so much for all your hard work on the WellChild Awards. I know there were lots of last-minute changes and amends. You were always so accommodating, and a hero for getting everything approved. Everyone said it really made the event. So once again huge thanks to you and the team for being such a great team to work with.

Thank you so much again from all of us here and from all of our winners for helping to make the event such a memorable and wonderful event. Particularly with all the challenges that we have all faced this year. To be able to have held such a special awards ceremony in a different format and to have your support at the event meant the world to us!
